Lord Strange (1460-1503) was also known as George Stanley, the son and heir of Thomas Stanley, 1st Earl of Derby (to be played by Rupert Graves). He was born in Knowsley, Lancashire. On his father’s second marriage to Lady Margaret Beaufort (to be played by Amanda Hale) George Stanley became step-brother to her son Henry Tudor (later King Henry VII, to be played by Oscar Kennedy).
In 1482 he married Joan le Strange (granddaughter of Jacquetta of Luxembourg (to be played by Janet McTeer) who was the mother of Elizabeth Woodville (The White Queen, to be played by Rebecca Ferguson)), thereby becoming the 9th Baron Strange.
